Davis County Commissioner Bob Stevenson Announces Candidacy for Utah House of Representatives, House District 16

Davis County Commissioner Bob Stevenson has filed to run for the Utah House of Representatives in District 16 that covers a large portion of Layton City and small portions Clearfield and South Weber City.

Stevenson, a Republican, will conclude his second, four-term as a Davis County Commissioner on December 31, 2026.

“My wife Lisa and I both graduated from Layton High School and have raised our family in Layton. The Stevenson name goes back to settlement times, so we have deep roots and have served this community extensively in various ways. I was taught as a young boy growing up that we respect the Stevenson name, that we show respect for all people, that we honor those we serve, and that we thank the good Lord for all the blessings that we have in our lives.  I have followed this motto throughout my life in all aspects of my family, faith, and professional career.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Layton City Councilmember, Layton City Mayor, and now as a Davis County Commissioner, with my term ending on Dec. 31, 2026. I have been honored to have worked in the various positions in local government and I am now looking forward to taking the knowledge I’ve gained and my leadership skills to the state level to represent the citizens of House District 16.”

Stevenson is a life-long Republican and has followed traditional conservative principles throughout his public life. In leadership roles within Layton City and in his role as a Davis County Commissioner, Stevenson has been an advocate for economic growth.
“Economic growth is the life blood of our communities and transportation, housing, education, work force, and public safety are key elements to a thriving economy. I also believe in small government and less regulation.  I am a big supporter of local control, and understand the importance of our cities and towns maintaining their unique personalities without unnecessary overreach and intrusive legislation from state government.”
Stevenson has become one of the most respected leaders in the state and serves in a number of capacities both statewide and on a national level. He serves on numerous boards and committees, helping to make sure his constituents are well represented. Some of these boards include:

  • Utah Defense Alliance with advocacy for Hill Air Force Base
  • Wasatch Front Regional Council, regional transportation-planning agency
  • Utah Association of Counties
  • Utah League of Cities and Towns
  • Weber Basin Water Conservation District
  • Davis County Chamber of Commerce

Stevenson was awarded the Davis Chamber’s Legacy Award last October in recognition of his many years of community service.

Stevenson has filed to pursue the Republican nomination through both the convention process and the voter qualification process permitted under Utah law. He will attend the Davis County Republican Party Convention on April 18, 2026. The Primary Election is on June 23, 2026.
